TWO suspected Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebel spies were lynched by a mob at Agwata trading centre in Lira district, army sources confirmed.

The 5th Division army spokesman, 2nd Lt. Chris Magezi, recently said, “They were suspicious elements who could not answer questions from the residents prompting the mob to lynch them.”

Simon Ojungu, an LC5 councillor, said the Police arrested the spies but the mob overpowered them.

Meanwhile, Denis Ocwich reports that Uganda Debt Network executive director Zie Gariyo has cast doubt about the possibility of peace talks bringing an end to the conflict in Northern Uganda.

“Talking to Kony will not solve the war if the historical fundamental causes like the Government’s failure to respect people’s political freedoms and human rights are not addressed,” Gariyo said on Saturday during the Annual Media convention at Hotel Africana.
