KAMPALA — A 70-year-old man who defiled a six-year old child was on Friday sentenced to life imprisonment. Justice Caroline Okello convicted Joseph Bukenya of Lunoni Landing Site in Bulwadda Parish, Kabulasoke, Mpigi district after prosecution proved him guilty of the offence. Bukenya, however, denied the offence and asked the judge to release him.

Priest gives condoms
WAKISO — A retired Anglican priest has promised to give condoms to Christians who cannot abstain from sex and those who cannot stick to one wife so that they don’t contract AIDS. The Rev. Kezironi Kibalama told Christians at St. Mark Church of Uganda Najjeera that the Church wants to preside over a congregation that is alive and not sickly.

One jailed for defilement
JINJA — The High Court recently sentenced a man to seven-years imprisonment for defiling a three-year-old. Grace Mutagaya confessed before court that he committed the offence in August at Bukendi village, Iganga district. Mutagaya is to serve the sentence at Kirinya prison.

Youth in for obscene talk
JINJA — A youth was on Friday sentenced to three years in jail for using obscene words in public. Sula Magino was convicted after he was found guilty of indecent assault and insulting the modesty of woman. He committed the offences on October 28.
