SECURITY agents in Yumbe have recovered six illegal guns from several local leaders including the district speaker, Ali Aluma, reports Chris Ochowun.

The arms were seized from the district vice-chairman, Kassim Ayisuga, Dragini sub-county chief Alahayi Vuni and Aringa county former LC4 chairman Salim Bada.

Others are the assistant tax officer, Swale Asiku, Kuru sub-county LC5 councillor Ali Drasi and Romogi sub-county LC3 chairman Aruna Alamiga.

Yumbe resident district commissioner Mustafa Doka said, “The councillors told me that they were given the guns by the army during the war. But I want them to produce the documents that allow one to poses a gun.”

He said the officials would be prosecuted for illegal possession of firearm.

On November 20, Aruna Ajaga, the movement boss of Romogi sub-county and Asraf Ojiga, LC2 secretary for information of Aliapi parish in Kuru sub-county were arrested and prosecuted for illegal possession of firearm and were remanded in Arua Central Prison.
