KAMPALA City Council FC has offered coach Mike Mutebi a two-year contract that entrusts him with all technical team affairs at the club.

The youthful tactician, who officially assumed powers on Saturday, will be supported by former club player Abdallah Mubiru, Abbey Nasur and Sadiq Wassa.

According to KCC club chairman Hajji Hasib Takuba Kabuye, the agreement — believed to be quite lucrative — was done soon to put speculation to rest.

“We are delighted to sign him for two years but we hope it will go on way beyond that. If he ever gets tired of being in a tracksuit I can think of no better person to become a technical director here or come onto the board. You don’t ever want to lose a person like this,” said Takuba.

KCC claim the refurbishment of their new training ground project at Lugogo should be associated with talented tacticians in the likes of Mutebi, who will help them realise their ambition of becoming one of Africa’s top clubs.

Mutebi, on a second attempt towards managing the club, said: “What is always most important to me is the next challenge, because you know there are going to be many ups and downs in the years ahead”.

Mutebi added that he would now strive to make KCC one of the best clubs in Africa and, with a new ground, one with the best facilities.

“You need a vision for the future of the club and the potential is certainly there when we have our new stadium. The present squad can achieve a great deal of success but, as always, it is up to the players to go out and prove it.

The board have shown that kind of ambition and that’s why I had to sign,” said Mutebi.
