FRESH charges of murder and aggravated robbery have been preferred against the UPDF’s former deputy director of sports, Capt. Moses Kabusenene.

The charges were read to him yesterday in the Military General Court Martial sitting at Makindye in Kampala. The original charges of terrorism and one count of aggravated robbery of 12,000 pounds from Hydery Forex Bureau were also read to him again before the Lt. Gen. Elly Tumwine, who chaired the session.

The State contends that Kabusenene is responsible for the death of a Mobile Police Patrol Unit constable, David Wanjara, who was shot during a chase on Buganda Road on June 14, 2002.

On the same day, Kabusenene was shot in the back and the Police killed four robbers after a chase.

Kabusenene, who was dressed in a yellow shirt, blue coat and grey trousers and seemed ready for the hearing, earlier denied all the charges. Prosecution led by WO II Johnson Oryem alleges that Kabusenene and others still at large on May 22 in Ndeeba robbed Viva Enterprises of sh75m and that they used four sub-machine guns, one pistol and a stick-grenade.
