Lubaga Democratic Party supporters have launched a campaign to reclaim the Lubaga South seat from outspoken MP Ken Lukyamuzi.

The constituency was once represented by DP Secretary General Damiano Lubega.

Lubega lost the seat when he declined to contest in 1996. He made a comeback in 2001 but Lukyamuzi beat him.

At a weekend meeting at St. Cecilia Nursery School, Kabuusu, branch members vowed to recapture Lubaga South.

“We want Lukyamuzi to declare whether he defected to CP or he is still a DP member. Otherwise, we are soon declaring Lubaga South seat vacant,” said Martin Gwayambadde, the Lubaga branch secretary.

Gwayambadde said they could not sit back and let strangers “encroach on DP constituencies in Lubaga”.
