Two arrested

Two officials of the Uganda Red Cross Society, Kumi branch were on Tuesday arrested in connection with the theft of 34 metric tonnes of relief food for the internally displaced persons.
The district criminal investigations officer, Alfred Egole, said Nicholas Aisu and Justin Omoding were due to appear in court.

Idlers held

A TOTAL of 970 idlers, among them 226 sex workers, were rounded in Police swoops in the last five months, Kampala Police chief, Benson Oyo Nyeko said yesterday.
He said 574 street children were removed from the streets in the swoops aimed at ridding the city of petty criminals.
