ONE of the 19 inmates who recently escaped from Bugiri prison was shot dead and two others re-arrested.
District prisons commander Jennifer Naisanga said Elias Menya, 30, was killed by officers on duty as he tried to jump over the Prisons wall at midnight.
Naisanga said Menya was on remand on defilement charges and 10 were on capital punishment.
