OUTGOING UPDF 2nd division commander Col. Poteli Kivuna recently handed over office to his successor Col. Hudson Mukasa in Makenke barracks in Mbarara, reports Kyomuhendo Muhanga.
Kivuna handed over an official vehicle, another for the escorts, a house and office equipment.
President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the commander-in-chief, early this week sent Col. Kivuna and 27 others on forced leave to allow for an investigation into alleged ghost soldiers in the army.
Sources at Bombo army headquarters said Col. Kivuna faced charges of failure to detect ghost soldiers in the Kasese-based 507 brigade.
The former army commander, Maj. Gen. Kazini, Brigadiers Henry Tumukunde, Steven Kashaka, Lt. Col Levi Karuhanga and Nakibus Lakara were also sent on forced leave.
