KAMPALA Boxing Club (KBC) made a good account by retaining the national inter-mediates championship at Lugogo Saturday.

The Nakivubo stadium-based outfit capped the week by finishing unassailable with 30 points at Lugogo indoor stadium.

The champions, who cushioned their chances with a good showing in the semi-finals, smashed victory in three of the six bouts leaving the opposition in the dust.

Challengers COBAP were second with 16 points while Namirembe and Jose were joint third with 15.

Kampala City Council (KCC) was fifth-placed with 14 points ahead of UPDF (12) and Police (9).

In the absence of defending champions Zebra, the feat sets up KBC as top contenders for the national Open due on January 11-18. All the semi-finalists in the event qualify for the prestigious tournament in the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) calendar.
