Kyenjojo parents receive piglets as brideprice for their defiled daughters, a survey has found out

Kyenjojo parents receive piglets as brideprice for their defiled daughters, a survey has found out.

The report, carried out by the Association of Human Rights Organisations (AHURIO), attributed this to the poverty in the region.

This was during a conference on the violation of rights of women and the girl child at Kasese Catholic Diocese Hall recently.

It revealed that many parents concealed defilement cases because they expected the defiler to pay them money or in kind.

The report accused local leaders of conniving with the parents and defilers as they also expected a share part of the defiler’s pay.

Participants were from the districts of Kabarole, Bundibugyo, Kyenjojo, Kamwenge and Kasese.
