NKUMBA and Ndejje Universities kick started their championship bids on a high note at Mandela National stadium with wins in athletics and most of their games.

The 9th edition of the inter-university games has for the first time in history been conducted without the participation of powerhouse Makerere University.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Badru Kateregga, Kampala University vice-chancellor urged the organising body National University Sports Federation- NUSFU to aim at conducting an official dialogue with MUK.

Kateregga added that this was an opportunity for universities to establish friendliness amongst each other, before declaring the games opened.
