Coke Brings Wide Smiles To Masulita Children

CENTURY Bottling Company (CBC), the Coca-Cola soft drink maker, has donated sh22m raised in the ‘Buy One Help One’ campaign.

CENTURY Bottling Company (CBC), the Coca-Cola soft drink maker, has donated sh22m raised in the ‘Buy One Help One’ campaign.
With every bottle of Coke-brand sold, sh2 went to the Uganda Women Efforts to Save Orphans (UWESO) Masulita Children’s Home, which accommodates just over 50 orphans.
CBC demand creation manager, Patrick Mugenyi, handed over the cheque to Zoe Bakoko Bakoru, the labour, gender and social development minister on behalf of UWESO at a Christmas party at Masulita village in Kakiri last week.
Mugenyi said sh18m was raised from the campaign and CBC decided to add sh4m.
Mugenyi said: “This campaign was an opportunity for Coca-Cola to demonstrate its commitment to Ugandan and we are proud to be associated with UWESO.”
On her part the first lady, Janet Museveni in speech read by Bakoko, thanked CBC for the continued support it has offered UWESO. She expressed gratitude to CBC Africa Foundation for picking UWESO for the third time as recipient of their generosity.
She called upon other companies to emulate CBC and support UWESO in their efforts to improve the lives of orphans in Uganda.
Masulita children’s village is supervised and managed by UWESO.
The Buy One campaign was launched on 15th November at Namanve bottling plant by the campaign’s mid point of 6th December, CBC had already raised sh9.8m which was handed over to UWESO at Kajjansi Flying school.Ends
