THE assistant Inspector General of Police, Francis Rwego, has asked the Police to work at restoring its image.
He said the force’s image was dented by indiscipline in form of corruption, drunkenness and the lack of customer care.
Rwego was recently addressing Iganga Police officers.
He had accompanied internal affairs minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda during a tour of the district Police and prisons departments.
The group also toured Bugiri district.
Rwego urged the officers to plant trees around the units to preserve the environment and ensure privacy of their property.
Rugunda urged the cops to enhance their performance and conduct themselves well to preserve their career.
He asked the prison officers to respect the rights of suspects, saying violation of human rights among offenders ranked highest in the human rights commission reports.
