A Kyambogo University student is among 24 suspects arrested by the Violent Crime Crack Unit (VCCU) at the weekend.
Thomas Twakiire, 20, was arrested after he attempted to rob a soda retail shop in Kireka last week, using a toy gun made of clay
“We saved the boy.
The residents wanted to lynch him. He drew the ‘gun’ at the woman and when she hit his hand, it broke into pieces,†VCCU chief David Magara said yesterday.
Twakiire, a first year procurement student, said in an interview he was looking for some money to sustain him at school.
At least eight sub-machine guns, a pump action gun, a revolver pistol, three toy guns and 103 bullets were recovered.
