SIR— I am a Liverpool Football Club diehard. I started supporting the club from my childhood. I have been carefully following the club’s record for some time. I find that it is Gerard Houllier’s regime that is bringing Liverpool down at a fast rate.

The club’s most successful managers have been Bob Shankly and Bob Paisley, with Paisley as the most successful manager in the British soccer history.
Liverpool’s chairman David Moores should think twice if he wants the club to regain its lost glory. Liverpool has been the most successful club in English and European football, having won 11 European titles, six FA Cup titles and 11 League titles,
right from the 1970s through
to the 80s.
