THE Shaggy Boombastic organising team has marshalled over 500 bouncers and private security personnel to beef up security during the pop-star’s New Year’s Eve performance at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

Peter Kaggwa, the event manager, said on Saturday the bouncers would be positioned in various places towards the venue to ensure that show-goers are not robbed and to control the crowds.

Shaggy, a US-based Jamaican dance-hall star, is expected today, a day before the concert. He is also expected to stage a family show on January 1, 2004.

“Forget about people being mugged, we have found a solution to all that. Everything is set for the do,” Kaggwa said shortly after the bouncers’ briefing on Saturday.

The men, most of them spotting bulging biceps and broad chests, were dressed in black suits, goggles and all armed with radio-call hand-sets.

Kaggwa said they had established over five acres of free parking zones at Munyonyo for the VIPs and Kabalagala for the rest to minimise traffic hold-ups.

The travel plan includes use of the 6km Salama Road, off the Entebbe highway at Kibuye roundabout and the Nsambya route via Makindye Barracks, Calendar Rest House joining Salama Road.
