CARDINAL Emmanuel Wamala has advised the Government to use the inter-religious council to end the war in the north.

“If the Government could use the inter-religious council come 2004, the 17-year insurgency in the north will come to an end,” Wamala said.

He said development could not take place in an unstable country.

“Stability serves as an example of development on the African continent,” Wamala said.

He was recently meeting members of the inter-religious council of Uganda and a 15-member delegation from Libya headed by Ahmed Sharif at the Sheraton Kampala hotel .

“This council has been a land mark in Uganda, ending long-existing religious differences. It can also be used to end the northern war where many people have been killed,” Wamala said.

Presidency minister Kirunda Kivejinja, First deputy Premier Lt. Gen. Moses Ali and Prince Kassim Nakibinge attended the function.
