Security operatives shot dead Cosmas Wokorach, a Sir Samuel Baker School S.1 student recently. Security sources said he and others still at large were behind a plot to kill Gulu LC5 chairperson Lt. Col. Walter Ochora and the RDC, Max Omeda.

Divorce rate worries cleric

The Archbishop, John Baptist Odama, has decried the high rate of divorce in the district. He attributed the vice to materialism. Odama told residents to embrace church marriage. He made the remarks while confirming 420 Christians at Gulu Cathedral on Sunday.

Langi group builds school
LIRA —
Langi residing in Kampala, Jinja and Entebbe have started constructing a school for displaced children at Bala Stock Farm. The acting chairman of Lango Community in Kampala, Joel Aliro Omara, said recently the seven classroom blocks would cost over sh15m.

Displaced get hoes
Gulu —
The Italian government has donated hoes worth sh44m to people living in Anaka internally displaced people’s camp, Laura Buffoni, an Italian emergency programme coordinator, said recently. She said the hoes would be distributed to over 30,000 families.

Arrow saves 2,000 kids
KAMPALA —
The national coordinator of the Arrow Group, Musa Ecweru, said on Monday the group in Teso region had since its inception rescued over 2,000 children who had been abducted by the LRA rebels.

LC5 lauds Christians

The district chairman, Franco Ojur, on Monday hailed Canadian and German Christians for giving the Pentecostal Assembly of God sh500m to construct a health unit.
