MATIA Lule has joined KCC FC on a two-year deal as an assistant to head coach George Nsimbe. Lule, who moves from Express FC replaces Godfrey Mugisha, who has abandoned his job after financial disagreements with the Lugogo club officials.

Lule’s position at the Red Eagles had become unclear since the recruitment of veteran David Otti as head coach and relegation of Jimmy Muguwa to the deputy position.

Nsimbe confirmed Lule's move saying he convinced the youthful tactician after Mugisha vanished from Lugogo.

“Matia is a young and vibrant coach. I had to convince him to join me because he is friendly and popular among players,” Nsimbe said at a training session at Lugogo yesterday.

A source in KCC said the newly-wed Mugisha was forced to throw in the towel after the club paid him sh0.2m instead of the sh3m arrears he expected for the six months he had worked at the Uganda Super League champions.

Another source close to Lule also indicated that he had never been paid at Express for the period he has been there. The allegation could however not be verified.

Lule was due to be introduced to the players at training yesterday but did not show up citing engagements in the ongoing CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

Mugisha's departure was the second for an assistant coach since July last year following an earlier one when goalkeeper trainer Bright Dhaira left for SCOUL FC in Lugazi.

Lule’s arrival could relieve Nsimbe of the work-load. He has been the only coach handling the team training for the CAF Champions League starting later this month.

Lule’s departure will on the other hand be a big blow to the Red Eagles as he has reportedly been doing most of the donkey work at Wankulukuku.
