UPDF reshuffles spokespersons

THE commander-in-chief of the UPDF, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on Wednesday reshuffled spokespersons in different army divisions.<br>

THE commander-in-chief of the UPDF, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, on Wednesday reshuffled spokespersons in different army divisions.

Capt. Chris Magezi who has been the spokesperson of the military operation against the LRA, dubbed Lighting Thunder, has been replaced by Capt. Deo Akiiki, who has been spokesperson of the army’s 5th Division based in Pader.

Magezi awaits further assignments.

Meanwhile, Capt. Ronald Kakurungu remains the spokesperson of the army 4th Division in Gulu as well as overseeing the 5th Division in Pader district.

In other transfers, Capt. Peter Mugisa moves from 305 Brigade in Kasese district to 409 Brigade of West Nile. Mugisa replaces Capt. Robert Kamara, who has been in the 409 Brigade.

Capt. Kamara becomes the new spokesperson for the UPDF 2nd Division based in Mbarara, replacing Capt. Kiconco Tabaro, who has been moved to Entebbe as the new spokesperson for the airforce. He replaces Naboth Mugisha, who awaits further assignment.

Lt. Olweny will serve in acting capacity in place of the 3rd Division spokesperson Capt. Henry Obbo who is in the US doing a military course.

Efforts to contact the army spokesperson, Maj. Paddy Ankunda, were futile.

The Chief of personnel and administration, Col. Martin Temera, declined to comment on the transfers.
