SOCCER governing body FUFA has banned its Mbale District Football Association delegate Zubair Galiwango from watching all the remaining CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup matches for indiscipline.

The letter copied to Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura and a number of police stations around Kampala, acused Galiwango of attacking staff of CECAFA sponsors GTV, who have since the start of the tournament, manned the main entrance to the pavilion.

In the letter, FUFA acting chief executive Edgar Watson noted that CECAFA secretary general Nicholas Musonye had ordered his federation to punish Galiwango to protect their contract with the sponsors, who have injected over sh986m in the regional tournament.

“The federation is in receipt of a letter from the Secretary registering complaint of you mistreating and disrespecting GTV staff at the main gate.

FUFA has taken action of banning you from attending any remaining CECAFA games in Nakivubo and Mandela stadiums,” Watson’s letter read in part.

Galiwango denied the accusations, arguing that his ban was political intolerance aimed at intimidating the opposition to FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa.

Musonye denied the order when Galiwango confronted him, describing the ban as a result of local football politics.

Galiwango, a former FUFA assistant general secretary is a vocal critic of the current FUFA administration, who has vowed to spearhead change against reigning president Mulindwa during the elections later this year.

The CECAFA semi-finals start at Namboole stadium on Sunday and although Galiwango vowed to watch all the matches he was visibly disturbed by the ban.

All semi-finals will be shown live on GTV.
