KCC FC returned to the apex of the Super League table after goals by Jeremiah Sebuyiira and team captain Sam Mubiru gave them a 2-1 win over Boroboro at Nakivubo yesterday.

Sebuyiira tapped in a rebound to give KCC the lead 40 minutes into the game before Mubiru doubled the lead from the spot.

Referee Alex Muhabi had awarded the Lugogo side a penalty after Brian Umony appeared to have dived following contact with Isaac Ebong in the box. Muhabi dismissed Ebong and later Boroboro team captain Daniel Engwedo for dangerous play.

Julius Okocha dribbled KCC goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan to pull a goal back in the 80th minute. KCC lead the league with 43 points.

At the Ssaza ground Simba pipped Iganga TC 1-0 courtesy of a Godfrey Wakaza strike 25 minutes into the game.

Jackson Mayanja has meanwhile challenged his Bunamwaya players to prove that their sizeable presence in the CECAFA Championship-winning team was on merit.

Bunamwaya, currently fourth on the table, had seven players in the Cranes side that captured the country’s tenth historic CECAFA title last week.

And as his side prepare for their tie against Kinyara, Mayanja said: “Whatever was said and is still said is extremely unfair. Each of my players on that team was there because he deserved his place. It had nothing to do with influence and they will prove it in the league.”
