MAKERERE University chancellor Prof. Mondo Kagonyera has warned lecturers at the institution who give female students free marks.

“I have been informed that sometimes teachers give marks without looking at the students’ scripts. If it is a fact, we have to address it,” he said.

Speaking on the fourth day of Makerere’s 59th graduation ceremony yesterday, Kagonyera called upon the university top administrators to follow up the issue so as to help parents get value for their money.

“Academic impropriety by students and staff must attract zero tolerance,” said the chancellor.

Kagonyera urged parents to actively participate in the affairs of the university so as to curb such impropriety.

About 2,000 students of business-related courses from the Nakawa-based Makerere University Business School were awarded degrees and diplomas at the ceremony held at the Freedom Square on the main campus.
