Grandma, dresses are worn only in family albums

Dear Grandma,
The place where people wear dresses most is in family albums. Here my grandparents and mother wore flowery dresses that accentuated their figures and the skirts that were slightly above the knees showed off their shapely legs.

Then there were no grey lines in dressing; girls wore dresses or skirts and boys wore shorts or trousers.

Today, grandma, it is different. Women and girls have become so addicted to trousers that it is bordering on illegal to wear a dress. They prefer tight jeans with slick “tops”, silk suit trousers and court shoes for work.

Besides, grandma, wearing trousers is the only way to look fashionable and ‘modern’ at least according to the music videos on MTV(a music channel). It is almost an offence to visit friends, attend parties in a dress!

By the way grandma, the other day when I wore a skirt as I visited, you said: “Now that is my grand daughter.” I’m curious, did you mistake me for your grandson when I visited in tousers?

I’m sorry grandma, but it is more fashionable for girls to wear men’s clothes.

Your granddaughter,
MABLE TWEGUMYE
