EDITOR—On January 25, The New Vision published a letter entitled “Kabusu Umeme office in chaos”.

The writer complains about long queues at Umeme’s Nateete office at Kabusu. We have, however taken note of the complaint about long queues and wish to apologise to our valued customers who might have been inconvenienced by the long lines described in the article. However, we have partnered with various commercial banks to receive payments for all our services.

According to our findings, there are a few areas where the banks and Umeme need synchronisation, to render the most effective service. For instance, a few of our customers’ payments take longer to be credited on their accounts.

Umeme is tirelessly addressing this complaint. We therefore appeal to all Umeme’s customers to pay through the following banks: Barclays, Citibank, Crane, dfcu, Post Bank, Stanbic and Standard Chartered. All you need is the previous receipt, Umeme’s invoice or a perforation (tear off) of your bill and make your payments to Umeme.
