<b>Tanzanian man sent to Luzira</b> <br>KAMPALA - A Tanzanian businessman on Wednesday appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of forgery, obtaining money by false pretence and uttering false documents.

KAMPALA - A Tanzanian businessman on Wednesday appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of forgery, obtaining money by false pretence and uttering false documents. Prosecution said Christian Mgaya, 27, presented a forged credit card to Imperial Royale Hotel. It also said Mgaya failed to pay US$17,053 (about sh33, 696,000) to the hotel. He denied the charges and was remanded to Luzira Prison until February 16.

Uganda to host nutrition meet

KAMPALA - Uganda is to host a nutrition conference to address food security and malnutrition among children and HIV/AIDS patients. Prof. Joyce Kikafunda, the president of the Uganda Action for Nutrition, said the February 19 to 20 conference would be held at the Munyono Commonwealth Resort Hotel. She said good nutrition had a big impact on a person’s quality of life, physical and mental development and productivity.

Agencies to train in disaster skills

KAMPALA - A total of 60 people will be trained to train others in disaster management by the relief and disaster preparedness ministry. The minister, Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere, said the programme would be conducted at the end of February and participants will be drawn from various agencies. Kabwegyere was addressing journalists at the Media Centre on Thursday.
