You have already heard about the eviction of the Musicians ’89 Club (a fraternity of local artistes) from the National Theatre, where they have been interacting with their fans since 1989 during the Jam Session.

You have also heard that it was over increment of the monthly rent from sh1.5m to sh10m. But we are sure you do not know how the musicians are struggling to keep up the tradition.

Like destitute children, a handful of resilient club members have been seen holding the jam session on the verandah of the theatre. Fans of this strange Monday parting ‘tribe’ have also been coming around in the hope for a miraculous reopening but modern day miracles are scarce.

Bitter members have been making vague noises about the injustice of the theatre management. There is feverish small talk that anxiety among artistes and fans might escalate into a full blown demonstration.
