SIERRA LEONE — FOUR women journalists were last week abducted and stripped naked by members of a secret society that practices female genital cutting. Female genital mutilation is common among the Bondo communities, and reporters who criticise it face the risk of social ostracism.
The four journalists were picked up at different areas in town and stripped. When the attackers discovered that the journalists had indeed undergone circumcision, they forced them to walk naked through the streets of Kenema town.

UK — Alfie Patten, 13, became the father of a bouncing baby last week. The baby-faced child admitted he did not know that the live sex fling with Chantelle Steadman, his ‘girlfriend’ of 15 would end up in a pregnancy.
The boy looks more like eight, has not yet broken his voice. The two children discovered the pregnancy when it was 12 weeks and kept it a secret until six weeks later when Chantelle’s mum suspected and confronted her. She gave birth Monday last week after a five-hour labour.

US — Prosecutors say a spurned lover ambushed his ex-girlfriend and tried to cut out the breast implants he paid for when they were still lovers. Thomas Lee Rowley, 28, attacked his ex in July 2006 outside her mother's home and slit her chest with a knife.
He was arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, stalking, burglary, and false imprisonment. The 26-year-old woman survived six stab wounds and the punctured breast implants were repaired.
