NAKIVUBO stadium manager Eugene Semujju has been suspended. The long serving administrator was punished for what a stadium board of trustees member termed as insubordination.

Parminder Singh said Semujju contravened a law barring him from speaking to the media.
“A board meeting on Friday suspended him for speaking to the media,” revealed Singh.

Nakivubo has for the past fortnight been in the news for leasing part of its 13-acre land for a bus terminal in the stadium. The latest report revealed that despite the management claiming to be cash-strapped, the sports facility makes over sh800m a year from various activities.

Income generating sources include football matches, music shows, prayers, rent from telecommunication companies, parking yards and now bus terminals.

Singh, popularly known as Katongole, explained that Ssemuju’s punishment is indefinite. “If he is repentant, he will be recalled.”

The sports fraternity is up in arms against a sh624m four-year deal. Construction is however progressing on the project that will have football spectators at the Kirussia wing competing for space with buses.
