EVERY girl, even the most ‘perfect’ looking female, seems to have issues with one thing or another on their person. In the second of seven ‘issues’ that can be addressed with simple fashion choices, SUUBI NJUKI, addresses Jules, who feels she is invisible

DILEMMA
Jules is tired of being invisible because of her size. Her argument is that some people need a magnifying lens to see her and yet when they do, they will frown at her slightly knocked knees or her floor length skirt.

SOLUTION
To be visible, you must be bold! Dare to wear bright colours (of course, make sure you choose those that flatter your skin tone) that will instantly cause you to be seen.

To camouflage knock-knees play with ruffles or a bit of lace at your knee line. Remember to use this in moderation lest they over power your teeny frame!

OUTFIT
An empire cut sheath dress with cap sleeves and lace trimming.

TIP
Bold bright colours will draw the eye up to your bust and away from your knees and the empire cut will make your legs appear longer.

FABRIC REQUIREMENTS
Avoid bulky fabrics like tweed and its ilk and instead consider cottons of medium weight or even satin, taffeta and silk. Jersey can also be an option if you have a smooth silhouette.

½ metre of double width fabric is needed for the bust. (You might need more fabric depending on the detail of the fabric)

1-1 ½ metres of double width fabric is needed for the rest of the dress. (The taller and fuller the figure, the more the fabric required)

For the lace trimming on the dress you should ideally buy between 2½ to 4metres of tape. (It is used at the bust and hem)
