FORMER Uganda Super League outfit Ediofe’s chances of returning to top flight were frozen, falling 1-0 to Samba boys in the quarterfinals of the Zone 4 mini league in Arua yesterday.

Little-known Samba Boys went on to down Nile United in the semifinal.

“It was the surprise of the tournament,” said coordinator Charles Letti. All semi-finalists qualified for the regional super mini league.

The Zone 13 semifinals are due today.

* With just one game played in the Zone 2 mini-league, Kapchorwa Town Council FC has pulled out citing financial difficulties.

It was a blessing in disguise for former premier league side CRO FC who automatically earned a slot in the quarter-finals at Mbale Municipal Stadium.

* NDEJJE University FC were crowned Luwero district Division One champions after gunning down UPDF 2-1 over the weekend.
The victory came thanks to goals from Jason Muhindo and Richard Semwanga. Sam Mugaya scored the consolation goal for UPDF.
