KCC players Brian Umony and Robert Ssentongo will travel with the national team to Sudan today, reports Swalley Kenyi.

Despite KCC protestations, soccer governing body FUFA named the two on the final squad, dropping Sam Mubiru instead. Also dropped are Bunamwaya striker Caesar Okhuti, who picked an ankle injury

KCC had asked that their players be excused from the friendly this weekend because of their Champions League match against SuperSport of South Africa next week.

National coach Robert Williamson explained he opted for Jimmy Mukubya and Musa Docca instead of Mubiru because he wanted to give them an opportunity they missed at the Senior Challenge Cup in January.

“Mubiru is a good player but I wanted to give Jimmy and Docca an opportunity because I was with them through out CECAFA and I know them better, Mubiru was not. I hope he (Mubiru) will understand me,” Williamson explained after naming the squad.

The team was announced by FUFA publicist Rogers Mulindwa at the weekly PostBank-sponsored FUFA press conference at Mengo yesterday.

The Squad: Y. Mugabi, H. Muwonge, S. Masaba, D. Walulya, J. Mukubya, M. Docca, M. Mudde, H. Kavuma, G. Walusimbi, T. Mawejje, P. Ochan, O. Kasule, S. Sserunkuuma, S. Bengo, E. Obua, E. Okwi, B. Umony, R. Ssentongo.
