Former business tycoon, James Mbabazi Katoto, was on Thursday given two days to vacate land he has been allegedly occupying illegally since January.

The warrant of eviction order was handed over to him on Thursday by Moses Kirunda, a court bailiff attached to High Court.

“You are supposed to leave this land by Saturday (today),” Kirunda said while handing over the warrant to Katooto.

The eviction order follows a High Court ruling on February 22 by Justice Anna Magezi, giving Rainbow Ranchers powers to occupy the land.

The eight-square-mile land is located in Byanamira parish, Kashongi sub-county in Kiruhura district.

Rainbow Ranchers, owned by Barnabas Taremwa, obtained the possession of the land in 2000 after an execution warrant by the court.

The eight square mile Land was sold to Taremwa by Court in 2000 to recover a loan Katoto had failed to pay.

Katooto reclaimed ownership of the land, saying he possessed six land title in the names of his sons.

The Police boss, Maj.Gen. Kale Kaihura, who witnessed the handover, promised to give the court bailiffs Police to keep law and order and ensure a peaceful eviction.

Kiruhura district chairman, Philip Kamugungunu, RDC Alinemary Kemerwa, other local leaders, religious leaders, elders and hundreds of residents of Byanamira witnessed the handover of eviction order to Katooto at the Ranch.
