DEFENDING champions Gombe Secondary School retained their novices title for the third consecutive time last week.
The champions topped Group A after winning all their group games to meet Budo in the final who qualified from Group C.
The Gombe players’ height advantage gave them more chances to rule over the final game against Budo that ended 16-11 at Nakivubo.
Muhayimina Namuwaya was Gombe’s lead scorere with 10 goals while Betty Nasaka netted six.
This year’s event registered 29 entries of both schools and clubs as compaired to last year’s 22 teams. St. Mary’s Kitende and St. Norah were both kicked-out for using ineligible players who were beyond the novice level.
