TABLE tennis Player-of-the-Year Kevin Mafabi wants to start the season on a high by winning the Sharing Open event that starts today at Sharing Youth Centre in Nsambya. The three-day event climaxes Sunday.

The Casablanca player has been on and off. But with the selection of the national team to represent Uganda in the NSSF Open on, Mafabi is expected to take no chances in the annual championship which has got facilitation from Elgon Flyers.

“He has been training hard but it’s no guarantee that he is an automatic winner. We expect more faces to fight for honours,” said tournament organiser Jude Mutete.

Mafabi will not only be facing off with defending champion George Iga and another veteran Paul Mutambuze, but will also face a crop of upcoming players like Jackson Migadde, Edward Kiwanuka and Dan Kajubi, who have made the men’s table tennis interesting.

There will be competition in both the men and women age groups and open category.
