VENDORS encroaching on the road reserve at Kalerwe Market, a Kampala suburb, will be evicted to pave way for the Northern Bypass dual carriage way, Dan Alinange, the Uganda National Road Authority (UNRA) spokesman, has said.

He added that UNRA was also looking for a contractor to mark all the road reserves in the country.

He said they would only compensate owners of the destroyed properties, adding that UNRA was to start a campaign to evict ecroachers on national road reserves as per the road reverves Act.

though they were constrained by the high costs of compensation particularly in the cases of approaches into the urban areas, as in cases it seemed more expensive than building the roads.
