UGANDA Athletics Federation officials are relieved after the junior men athletes were finally granted passports to make the team for next week’s World Cross Country.

The development now allows the technical committee to pick the final team of five junior and six seniors for the annual international event due in Amman, Jordan next Saturday.

“They have got the passports. The onus is now on the technical committee to choose the best runners,” said the federation treasurer Godfrey Nuwagaba yesterday.

The final selection was put on hold over the weekend, after the junior athletes were recalled to Kampala by immigration for more interviews before they were granted passports.

The technical committee had earlier said there was no use naming a team before they got travel documents.

The senior and junior athletes have been training in Kapchorwa for over one month.

Uganda’s best performance at the event is a silver and team bronze (five) for the juniors and one for the seniors in the past.

Seniors: M. Kipsiro, G. Kusuro, S. Kiproitich, N.s Kiprono J. Chebet, B. Siwa, B. Kiplagat, I. Kiprop, M. Toroitich.
