WHEREAS we can do many things to live long and healthy lives, the places we live in also shape our destiny. Bukedea district is where people live longest, according to data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics. At the last census 7.1% of the people in Bukedea were aged 60 and above, making it the district with the oldest population. At sub-county level, Bumasifwa leads with 8.6%.

At regional level eastern leads with 5.3% followed by western with 4.4%, central 4.4% and northern 3.9%. Within Buganda, Mityana district leads with 6.0% while in the west Kisoro leads with 5.5%. In northern Uganda the regional giant is Nebbi, with 4.8%.
