Tight vetting for Veterans’ Gala
SOCCER - Friends of Football has planned a vigorous players’ verification exercise in a bid to lock out the just retired soccer players from the third edition of the Veterans Gala slated for April 26. This follows controversies that marred the last event over players’ ages. The gala, meant for players over 40 years, is a social outing for former players. SC Villa are the reigning champions.

Royal qualifies

SOCCER - Busoga High and St. John Bosco secondary schools have been disqualified from the the Kamuli district Coca Cola soccer tournament for fielding ineligible players. Organisers threw out Busoga High for using a non student Robert Kitamirike. St John Bosco paid the price for fielding Alex Mukama of Kamuli’s Central College. The dismissed teams had reached the semi finals. Royal College beat Kidera SS 1-0 in the final and will represent the district at the national Post Primary schools tournament in Fort Portal later this month.

Nkemba on top

SOCCER - Nkemba United beat Kabanda Destroyers 3-2 on penalties to win the inaugural Coca Cola 7-aside Friends of Football (FOF) tournament at Old Kampala on Sunday. The game had ended 1-all in the regular time. The event, organised by Dan Walusimbi playing professional football in Sweden and Maji FC player Kassim Kasawuli was aimed at bringing together all former FOF charges and subscribers to this football community.
