The ALUR Kingdom has established a cultural tie with the Kingdom of Swaziland in southern Africa, in a bid to promote development of both areas.

In order to implement this cooperation, the Alur cultural envoy to Swaziland, Bilal Stanley Olalgiu, presented his credentials to King Mswati III at Luzitha Palace in Mbabane, Swaziland, recently.

Olalgiu is an Alur expatriate teacher in Swaziland based in Manzini, where he has worked for over 20 years and he is fluent in the Siswati language.

The ceremony was witnessed by Prince Alex Jagenu of Alur. Also present were Swazi palace officials, including Prof. Chief Mangaliso, brother to King Mswati, private secretary to King Mswati Dr. Sam Mkombe and Phiwa Ddamini, the chief of protocol.

Mswati said he had no objection to having an Alur envoy in his kingdom.

He said if there were ways to make the two kingdoms engage in developmental programmes, exchange cultural ideas and trade together, he would back the campaign to improve the people of the two kingdoms.

Mswati instructed his officials to liaise with the Alur Kingdom through its envoy to identify areas of cooperation in order to achieve the intended goals.

King Mswati III promised to visit the Alur Kingdom on his next visit to Uganda.

Jagenu noted that the Alur had a strong administrative structure and a comprehensive development plan.
