In 1995, Omukama Oyo was enthroned as the king of Toro Kingdom following the death of his father Omukama Patrick Kaboyo that same year.

It is now 14 years since. At Kyenjojo Secondary School playgrounds recently, hundreds of his people joined him to celebrate the ocassion in a thanksgiving service that was presided over by the Bishop of Rwenzori Diocese Patrick Kyaligonza.

Other people present were Toro’s Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, Kyenjojo district chairman James Byamukama, Kumi resident district commissioner and former Kyenjojo LC5 chairman, William Kaija.

In her special prayer, the Queen Mother thanked God for her son’s life. Later, the Omukama cut a cake which had been baked in Toro Kingdom colours of blue and yellow and served his guests amidst happy birthday songs.

A brass band from St.Leo’s College welcomed the Omukama who was dressed in a grey suit with a pink shirt together with a matching neck tie.

Oyo braved the scotching afternoon sun and walked with his subjects along the Fort Portal-Kampala Road, for about a kilometre to Kyenjojo Secondary playgrounds for the major events.

Several children from various schools around the district lined the road to welcome the Omukama.

At the playgrounds oyo with the help of some of his aides and Toro Kingdom officials, inspected a guard of honour by school children from Kyenjojo district.

The celebrations were marked by entertainment from the Kingdom Abakondere (royal trumpeters) and several school choirs.
