Kichwamba college repairs start

THE Uganda Technical College Kichwamba in Kabarole district, which was attacked by the Allied Democratic Forces rebels in 1994, is being renovated.

President Yoweri Museveni contributed sh655m towards the renovation on behalf of the Government. The college principal, Jorem Adutu, said four workshops and 22 staff houses are to be renovated, adding that the construction of two student hostels and an administration block had also started.

“Each hostel will house 60 students. We believe our accommodation problems will end,” Adutu said. He thanked the President for fulfilling his pledge, adding that the college would shine again.

He urged the Government to allocate more funds to technical colleges to enable them function well, adding that the sh1,500 allocated to each student for meals each day was not enough.

The Government is paying fees for 250 students out of 541.
