District councillors have approved the nomination of Ojok Ojara as the chairman of the district service commission for a four year term. The councillors also approved the nomination of Anglo Menya Luganya as a member of the commission. The councillors made the approval during a meeting presided over by the district speaker, Charles Ray Okwir, last Thursday.
Army shoots deserter dead

UPDF officers recently shot dead an elusive army deserter who has been ambushing vehicles on Lira-Kitgum road. UPDF 5th Division public relations officer Capt Deo Akiiki said Jasper Ogal was killed during an operation against armed thugs who had been terrorising communities of Corner Kilak and River Agago. He was found with a gun and 147 rounds of ammunition. Akiiki said Ogal had been responsible for the death of 15 civilians in Ogur sub-county, adding that they had been hunting him for two years.
