THE Basoga must desist from gossiping, rumour- mongering and engage in production, the agriculture state minister has said.

Aggrey Bagiire, who is also the Bunya West MP, said most Basoga were not taking advantage of the good leadership in the sub-region to develop.

“People load airtime on their phones to call radio talk-shows to discuss how Migereko was demoted. We are wasting a lot of time and resources discussing non issues,” he said.

He was referring to a belief by some residents that by the shifting Daudi Migereko from the energy ministry to the position of the Government chief whip, the President had demoted him.

“The Government chief whip is a very important person, who knows all government business,” he said during the Labour Day celebrations at Busoga Square in Jinja town on Friday.

Bagiire noted that all the districts in Busoga had received the National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) funds for this financial year.
He expressed concern that many employers in the region did not participate in the celebrations.

He was responding to remarks by the Bugembe town clerk, Abdu Batambuze, that all the employers had shunned the function, despite having been invited.
