A teacher of Mother Care Primary School Kitete in Mukono town has been sent to to Luzira Prison for 10 years over defilement.

The High Court on Tuesday found Paddy Katongole guilty of defiling his nine-year-old pupil.

Prosecution told court that Katongole committed the offence on May 7, 2005 at the school’s staff quarters.

The girl testified that on that fateful day, she had gone to visit Katongole who was sick. “When I entered the house, he closed the door and threatened to kill me if I made noise,” she said.

She narrated that she felt a lot of pain and asked for permission and went back home and did not tell anybody what had happened.

Her mother, however, saw stains on her pants, questioned her and reported the matter to the Police.

Katongole, however, denied having committed the offence, saying the case was a frame-up by the girl’s parents who had failed to pay sh500,000 they owed him.

Justice Vincent Zehurikize, said Katongole lied to court by arguing that the case was a concoction.

“The accused betrayed the teaching profession,” the judge ruled.
