Ugandan stars to meet Cricket legend Lara

THE visit of West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara will help inspire and motivate domestic players, an official Latimar Mukasa said yesterday.

THE visit of West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara will help inspire and motivate domestic players, an official Latimar Mukasa said yesterday.

Mukasa, who is Uganda Cricket Association public relations officer, said while addressing a press conference.

A programme of Lara’s visit, set for 6-13, was unveiled at the press conference held at the Trinidad and Tobago embassy in Mbuya, Mukasa.

The high commissioner Patrick Edwards also spoke at the gathering.
Mukasa said Lara’s visit was great thing for Uganda that will see him go to the Eastern and Western regions of the country.

‘‘Lara will interact with out players on a personal basis,” Mukasa said.
“His impact will be substantial especially to the young players’’ Mukasa hastened to add.

He said Lara’s visit has attracted tremendous support and interest from different people and corporate bodies.
Lara will also attend a twenty20 game between a Uganda select 11 and a team from Rwanda.

Trinidad and Tobago high commissioner Patrick Edwards said as an ambassador of sport, Lara’s visit will further strengthen and promote the good ties between the two countries.
