IT is finally here – the climax of Stand Up Uganda, M-Net’s search for Uganda’s funniest stand up comedian.

Following its January auditions at which turned up all sorts of clowns, some 20 hopefuls were selected to give their shot at becoming the country’s funniest and winning $10,000 (sh20m).

After spending a month in a comedy workshop, tutored by comedians like Al Projers and Stand-up Zambia winner Bob Nkosha, the 20 were ready for viewing by DStv audiences across Africa. Some impressed.

Others didn’t and were thrown out by viewers of the recording sessions, one after another, till the last three. Now the three: Patrick Idringi, Kenneth “Pablo” Kimuli and Daniel Omara, are in the final run for the jackpot.

And one of them will walk away with it tonight at 7:00pm. The runners up will also get cash prizes from M-Net.

Want to take part in the finale at Theatre La Bonita, where the cash will be handed over? Tickets go for sh5000 at the theatre’s box office and Multichoice Uganda.

Bob Nkosha will also perform at the event, whose proceeds will go to charity.

Meanwhile, you can still slot in your last votes for the contestants. Just go to messages on your phone and type your favourite comedian’s first name and send it to +2783142100416 across all networks.

However, to vote for Kenneth “Pablo” Kimuli, don’t send his first name but rather, his nickname “Pablo” to the same number.

And if the reasons they want you to give them the jackpot matter, here they are:
Daniel: “Give me the jackpot because I am broke.”
Patrick: “Because I want to buy land in Temangalo.”
Pablo: “Because I care about their happiness by making them laugh.”

So knock yourself out. Voting can also be done online at www.mnetafrica.com.
