FRANCe-based Ugandan singer, Iryn Namubiru recently broke her silence with the album Bonna Obasinga, after a long break.
She is up for three concerts which she has dubbed Bonna Obasinga.

The concerts, slated for June 12, 13 and 14 at Hotel Africana, Colline Hotel Mukono and Gaba Beach respectively, will act as release parties for the album.

They will feature Jose Chameleone, Ragga Dee, Bobi Wine, Radio and Weasel, Ronald Mayinja, Haruna Mubiru, Peter Miles, HB Toxic and Rachael Kiwanuka.

With just a few Ugandans appreciating her old style, Iryn has studied the music scene and got to know what Ugandans want and the results are positive.

Her new album features songs like Kingambe, Samwa Samwa, featuring Jose Chameleone; Nina Omwana, Bandeke Netale, Dance Floor, Ninakupenda, Mukwano Gwaffe, Obulamu Bwa Kiseera and Bonna Obasinga.

Like Iryn’s old chartbuster Nkuweeki, most of the songs on this album are done in R&B style. Some songs were co-written by Iryn and Henry Kiwuwa, who also produced the album.

Kingambe is a love song describing a shy man who cannot express his feelings to his lover.

The second song, Dance Floor, is ragga-influenced and features singer Ragga Dee.

Although some music pundits say she should have stuck to Afro-soul, others think her recent take on Luganda R&B and Afro-beat adds freshness to the local music scene dominated by similar-sounding voices.
