KCC FC’s hopes of clinching a positive result against Nigerian side Bayelsa United could depend on how well Uganda’s Confederations Cup representatives negotiate the soaring temperatures in Ogara City.

If the temperatures in Ogara have proved one thing, it is that KCC will not afford to motor in top gear to get the result they need. Dawdling in second or third gear might be the option.

“The heat is so much. We only hope it does not take much away from us. We will only have one session today (Friday) to help us acclimatize to the conditions here,” KCC FC coach George Nsimbe stated.

The soaring temperatures mean it will not be possible for KCC to keep the accelerator flat to the floor during the game with temperatures currently as high as 34 degrees centigrade.

No Ugandan club has managed to secure victory in West Africa in over two decades but the league champions are convinced that if such damning static was ever going to change, it will have to be on Sunday.

Nsimbe intends to redesign his midfield, with veteran midfielder Willy Kyambadde starting on the bench.

Patrick Ssenfuka will start despite his recurring ankle injury problems in a congested midfield that will also have holding midfielders Ronald Kamoga and Godfrey Kavulu.

“We had food problems but the encouraging thing is they (the hosts) have promised to improve our meals,” Nsimbe added.

KCC’s psychological preparations had earlier been hit on arrival.

The Ugandan club was left stranded at the domestic airport in Lagos after failing to secure a connecting flight to Ogara City in the Delta State, 400km away.

KCC beat Bayelsa United 3-1 in the first leg.
